local vendor selling coconuts on the roadside

Islandman
promotes a relatively new concept which we have coined as 'Inside-out Tourism'. Typically, our  islands have been stereotyped as sand and beach getaways with not much fluff.  Once this type of a vacation falls out of favor with the traveling public, the tourism sector declines and with it, the livelihood of the majority of small vendors who depend on it for their mainstay.

Islandman seeks to reverse this trend by aggressively marketing the islands by uniqueness rather than traditional allure. The advent of the internet and its ability to level the playing field allows vendors both large and small to capture their fair share of the marketplace. Thus, the hair-braider whose office is a lone chair on  a beach under a coconut tree can effectively commpete with the most exclusive of salons.  Islandman manages the resources but each vendor remains an independent and unique asset to the whole. What's more, at least 10% of every dollar spent on Islandman goes to a local charity. Giving back to the community is a very important part of who we are.

We further believe, that as vendors, if we are generous and courteous in our dealings with you, the feelings will be reciprocated. You will grow to love us and wish to return to our fair shores and we will benefit from the repeat business. As "good-will ambassadors", you will spread the word to friends and family that Islandman welcomes you with open arms.

So you see. You really are dealing with all of our people when you use the Islandman web site. Your money is going straight to the man who really should be getting it in the first place - local small business.  Please visit our sister site Designs by Islandman for all your website design needs.
